WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Operations Technician Team Lead

Supervised a team of eleven operations technicians across three shifts, seven days a week.  Managed an average of twenty projects per month, assigned tasks to staff, coordinated projects with other teams, contacted customers for information and to provide status updates, attended weekly meetings to provide status updates to management, and QA’d team members work.  Performed escalation resolution of tickets from members of my team.  Assisted members of my team with complex server installations and projects.  Oversaw a twelve million dollar expansion of the data center, increasing the capacity by more than three hundred cabinets and two megawatts of electricity.  This included weekly meetings with the construction staff, daily work with the design/build company to ensure everything remained on schedule, and quality assurance checks along the way to guarantee that the build meets the company’s standards.

Day to day operations included responding to customer inquiries, hardware and software support, server builds, and tape rotations.  Provisioned new rack and cage space for new and existing customers.  Worked with vendors on a regular basis to evaluate products, obtain bids, order materials and parts, and schedule and QA work.  Worked with team members and other teams to plan and coordinate projects for customers and internal to the company.  Fielded calls and questions from various team members as an escalation point for technical and facility issues.  Monitored and maintained the data center's cooling and power infrastructure, building management system, physical security system, and surveillance systems on a daily basis.  Made recommendations to management on the procurement of new products and future data center upgrades.

Supervised the development, implementation, and maintenance of a multinetwork, multiuser environment. Primary administrator for all network Linux and Novell servers including but not limited to file service, electronic mail, DNS, DHCP, eDirectory, remote access, and Internet web connectivity. Provided direct and on-call support of the network operations for the New Jersey State Parole Board. Managed data center operations, including but not limited to power (both utility and backup), air handling and network infrastructure. Provided guidance to infrastructure managers/technicians to troubleshoot and resolve network problems and conduct upgrades as needed. Explained and answered questions by providing technical assistance to employees, management and the Executive Board. Installed, configured, and set up printers, workstations, and servers. Designed and maintained the computer images for departmental-wide implementation. Managed the security patch implementation software.  Administered and configured the mult-Terabyte SAN system with an attached backup tape library. Ensured the security of data, software, hardware, records and files. Maintained the highest levels of network security and data integrity including antivirus countermeasures. Conducted studies of programs and operations to determine their applicability to existing or planned information systems. Made recommendations to the management for the procurement of software and hardware.
